Vintage 1941 Ludwig “Top Hat & Cane ” Drum Kit – All Original, Rare & Collectible!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING THEN YOU MOST LIKELY KNOW THAT THE LUDWIG AND LUDWIG TOP HAT AND CANE SWING SENSATION SET IS THE RAREST AND ARGUABLY MOST COLLECTABLE DRUM SET EVER. PERIOD.THIS IS A 100% ORIGINAL 1941 LUDWIG TOP HAT AND CANE SWING SENSATION MODEL SET! This is not a re-issue or re-cover. This is the Holy Grail Folks !

There are only 10 to 15 KNOWN SETS STILL IN EXISTENCE, 2 WERE IN CHARLIE WATTS’ COLLECTION AND ONE IN JOHNNY DEPPS. HOWEVER, I dare you to find a cleaner kit . This kit is from the collection of A first class drummer, guitar player, AND  record producer .  This set hasbeen lovingly stored in cases for decades.  There has been no restoration other than a good polishing AND SOME CUSTOM CALF SKIN HEADS MADE TO PRESERVE THE CONDITION OF THE ORIGINALS ( PROVIDED IN THIS SALE!). .  This is the way the set came out of the cases.

 The condition of this set is extraordinary! The photos speak for themselves.  The photos depict the condition of the set very accurately. The shells and edges are excellent with no cracks, holes, dents or modifications. The nickel hardware is brilliant. The very early Imperial lugs are cast of solid brass. Original calf heads WILL BE PROVIDED . The shells are all date stamped in 1940 and 1941. Original bass pedal, hi-hat pedal, snare stand, throne, bass spurs, canvas bags, cowbell and trap case are all included. Original cymbal stands and cymbals are also all there !The floor tom rests in it’s original “basket” stand. The cymbals and stands in the photos are not included.

 AS STATED, The set is in near perfect condition; note how the bass drum hoops are original stained wood , not painted black as some sets are  . I would have to say this is THE cleanest kit out there but I haven’t seen Charlies kits .

The Ludwig and Ludwig Top Hat and Cane Swing Sensation Model drum set is considered by collectors to be the rarest and most sought after production drum set ever made. This model was produced for less than 2 years between 1940 and 1941. It was considered to be the absolute pinnacle of the drum set industry at the time. THIS SET IS ALSO UNIQUE IN THAT IT HAS METAL HARWARE AND HOOPS: PRODUCTION OF METAL HARDWARE WAS HALTED MID PRODUCTION DUE TO THE WAR THAT WAS JUST BEGINNING AND THE SUBSEQUENT NEED FOR METAL FOR THE MILITARY.
