Just in! The new Carondelet OTB Fat Broads are here. Designed in collaboration with Nashville-based guitarist Owen “OTB” Barry, these pickups recreate the distinctive voice and versatility of the original 1950–51 Fender Broadcaster pickups.
The original Broadcaster pickups had a character all their own. The neck pickup delivered a warm, round, articulate tone, while the bridge offered a thicker, more muscular voice with elements of the punch and girth associated with vintage P-90s and amplified steel guitars. Together, they offered a remarkably versatile combination that went well beyond the familiar modern Telecaster sound.
The OTB Fat Broads capture that early Blackguard character using historically informed materials and construction. Features include custom-spec plain enamel coil wire, period-appropriate rod magnets and metallurgy, along with tape-insulated magnets and coils and paraffin flash-potting for improved durability without compromising tone or feel.
Designed for players looking for the warmth, punch, and versatility of the earliest Fender T-style guitars, the OTB Fat Broads offer a compelling alternative to traditional modern Telecaster pickups.
