1993 Fender Japan ST-62G Stratocaster – Fujigen Era – Gold Hardware / 3-Tone Sunburst
Every once in a while, a “Made in Japan” Strat comes through the shop that makes you wonder why anyone was buying American standards in the early 90s. This is one of those guitars. This is a 1993–1994 Fujigen-era ST-62G, a “Gold” edition of the legendary ’62 Reissue.
If you know your MIJ history, you know the “N-Serial” years from the Fujigen factory are considered a high-water mark for build quality. This isn’t just a parts-bin Strat; it’s a dedicated ’62 tribute with a proper slab rosewood board and a neck carve that reminds us of our favorite vintage Strats. The pickups have been upgraded to Fralin Vintage Hots in all 3 positions (RWMP). The “G” suffix in the model name denotes the factory-original gold hardware, which has aged into a beautiful, muted “patina” that looks killer against the 3-Tone Sunburst.
The neck heel features the original “6-8” production stamps and the “T” inspection mark, confirming its pedigree. The lacquer on the neck is thin, fast, and remarkably clean for a 30-plus-year-old instrument. This is 60s vibe without the 60s price tag. This strat is in over all very good condition with some cosmetic blemishes and dings on the body (shown in photos). Ships with a Deluxe Padded Soft Case.
