The DMP features a dual mono design (the “DM” stands for Dual Mono), meaning it contains two completely independent tube preamp channels. Each channel includes:

1 × 12AX7

1 × 6SJ7-GT octal tube

High Pass Cut control

Low Pass Cut control

Compression control

Each tube also has its own gain control via dual concentric pots, allowing you to blend the character of the two tubes for a wide range of tones per channel – from rich harmonic cleans to complex edge-of-breakup saturation.

One of the standout features is the ability to daisy chain Channel 1 into Channel 2, cascading the tube stages to create extremely dynamic, touch-sensitive overdrive with huge harmonic depth. It also takes pedals really well. Pair it with your favorite power amp and you’re off to the races!

 Included are a few additional NOS octal tubes with the sale so the new owner can experiment with different tube combinations and voicings. This preamp, like all of Tim Thompson’s wonderful amps, lets you hear the subtle differences in the tubes, as well as your guitars.
